Ecuador Day 3...

Our third day in Shell, Ecuador was pretty relaxing for the most part, though we were all pretty tried by the time it was over. We got up early, had breakfast, and then went to church with some of the older kids and workers from Casa de Fe. It was a great church service, but everyone was pretty much out of their element. Most people on the team don’t speak Spanish and the church service was ALL in Spanish. I think it really opened some eyes as to what it is like to be in another country without knowing the language or having someone translate or speak for you. It can be scary, frustrating, and even boring to the point of not wanting to keep going. A few people even expressed a desire to learn some Spanish for the specific reason of being able to reach out to people back home as well as here.

After Church, we ate some lunch and toured Puyo, the neighboring city. Sundays are really laid back here so there isn’t much going service wise. However, we were able to have a very cool experience. One of the workers at Casa de Fe has set up an ultimate frisbee game with the orphanage kids and local missionaries. We were invited to come along and had lots of fun. It was a very unique experience!

To end our day, Ben, Andy, and I all went into town to find supper for us all. Normally the missions coordinator sets up all our meals, but they were letting us try this meal on our own since I have been here a few times before. We found fried chicken, fries, rice and beans. Nothing like going to another country and sticking to what you know!

Tomorrow we will put on the first day of VBS. They are breaking the kids up into three groups witch means we will be doing everything three times. Thanks for all your prayers. We are all doing well and no one has gotten sick as of today. Keep praying for us as we keep ministering to these wonderful kids!

In Christ,
