Mfuge Days 4 & 5: Incredible...

Last night was incredible. We all gathered and talked about how we were going to “take home” what has happened here. People have been changed. Jesus has spoken to people, forgiven people, and drawn people into a deeper relationship with Him.

Thank you all so much for your prayers for us. It has been a great week and your prayers were part of it!

We are going to get on the road and head home today. Pray that what Jesus has done here comes with us and we change Newport!

Mfuge Day 2: Jesus Did It Again...

It happens every year at Mfuge. It’s one of the main reasons I am set on going to Mfuge each year. Through all the service, teaching, and fellowship God speaks to us as a youth group. I was just waiting on it to happen this year.

Jesus did it again.

Tonight was the night that Jesus poured His love and forgiveness out on Breaking Point Student Ministries. Our youth group came together in a powerful way. There were people who forgave others and people asking for forgiveness. But the most awesome thing was the overwhelming love shown from the youth group to each other and to me. Jesus has developed these youth into something very special, and I am blessed to be a part of it.

The one who conceals his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them will find mercy. Proverbs 28:13 (HCSB)

Mfuge Day 1:Not What We Expected...

We have had our first day of camp here in Louisville, KY. Things went well for the most part, but a lot of people are doing things they didn’t sign up for. Some people who are in the Social Ministry track wound up painting walls. Some who are in the Homeless Ministry track went to the park today to share about Jesus. We stressed to them, “Ministry doesn’t always go as planned. Sometimes you just do all you can.”

The most beautiful part of the day was after evening worship. Almost the whole youth group got on their knees and were broken before Christ. I love to see Jesus use people and touch people.

Three days of camp left! Thanks or your prayers!

A Note To Parents...

I got a call to go help a youth change a tire recently. This girl has had a pretty difficult life and no father figure to speak of. She had called around and no one in her family (mom, grandma, etc.) knew how to change a tire. I was kind of her last hope. I had promised my son that I would spend the day with him, so instead of going on my own I asked him to join me. He was excited to go along!

When we got there, I asked him, “Do you want to help and learn how to change a tire?” At first he whined. Mainly because he was playing in my iPad and didn’t want to stop, but I convinced him to stop and help. I was also thinking of this girl who didn’t know how to change a tire. With no father figure, she really had no one to teach her. So I was showing them both how to loosen the lug nuts, where to place the jack, how to operate it. I was proud of my son. He jumped in and got his hand dirty, helped jack up the car, took off and put back on the lug nuts, and did it all with a smile. He helped serve this girl as much as I did and learned more than just how to change a tire. We got her set and on her way, then went to a birthday party that night.
